The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep

by Francine Brokaw

This enchanting story begins with Angus (Alex Etel), a Scottish boy who finds something special near a lake. It's an egg, but not like any kind he's seen before. A strange creature hatches that Angus names Crusoe. Angus discovers that Crusoe has to be kept in water, so he hides him in a bathtub.

Angus is a sad little lad, who cannot accept the fact that his father has been killed in action during the ongoing WWII. Angus is withdrawn and depressed, but Crusoe changes that.

Angus and his sister Anne discover that Crusoe is a Water Horse, a legendary Celtic sea spirit. Within days Crusoe goes from the size of a puppy to a horse, and they take Crusoe to the lake where he can swim free. Letting go is not easy for Angus, but he knows what is best.

The next time Angus sees Crusoe he's gigantic and Crusoe takes him on a magical adventure. Thanks to Crusoe, Angus becomes a fun-loving boy once again. And thanks to Crusoe, Loch Ness will never be the same again either. Yes, Crusoe is one of the legendary "monsters" of Loch Ness.

"The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep" opens December 25 and is a charming holiday treat of mythical proportions.
