Exclusive South of the Border Romantic Getaway

Within 2 and a half 2 hours of taking off from LAX, we were sitting in a luxury SUV headed for a weekend that would soon far surpass our very high expectations. This is not easy, as our normal hotels of choice are the Ritz Carlton and 4 Season's.

We spent the next 25 minutes enjoying a gorgeous sightseeing tour of the local sights. We arrived at the center of the Esperanza resort, which is located about 5 miles from the town of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The resort looks more like an exclusive private hacienda than a five star hotel. Our guide, Edith, immediately escorted us on a breathtaking tour of the property, where we visited the main restaurant, which was on an ocean front cliff, and the two Infinity pools which had incredible views of the sunrise. Then, we were brought to our Casita.

When we arrived there, two Esperanza employees, Dionicio and Mauricio, were making us guacamole and margaritas from scratch, right in our room! We choose to have our margaritas in our private Infinity spa, and our guacamole on our outside couch. Did I mention that our room was on the 4th floor and had a 100% direct ocean view?

At 8:00 PM we dined at the main restaurant. Even though we were late for dinner, we were seated immediately at a table I will never forget. Our table was right on the edge of a 50' cliff, and when a large wave would come in, we would get a little splatter from the ocean! It was amazing.

The next day we lounged by the pool watching the boats meander by, eating everything in sight and drinking blueberry smoothies. Life does not get much better than this.

That evening we had a Couples Clay Bake at the hotel spa. I have had a lot of massages in my day, but this one will go in the memory books. We were escorted into a secluded outdoor space with a private pool, two outdoor showers, and a palette full of various types of paintbrushes and several varieties of mud. All I can say is it was an experience I will not soon forget!

All in all this was one of the most relaxing weekend getaways I have had a in a long time.
