Donny and Marie Osmond are almost as popular today as they were when they starred in their weekly variety show in the 1970s. This 2-disc set includes four episodes from that show. There is one episode from each season - 1976, 1977, 1978, and 1979. Guest stars on these episodes were Bob Hope, Ruth Buzzie, Paul Lynde and others. Donny and Marie bring their unique singing and comedy talents to these DVDs with plenty of song and dance, and of course, their own Ice Vanities who skated their way onto the set to open each show.
Donny and Marie's older brothers paved the way in the business and are now celebrating their 50 years in show business, and Donny and Marie each have their own solo careers. Besides the 50 year anniversary (which will air early next year and will also include a tour through the UK with the entire family), Marie has brought the family back into the public's eye with her personality and energy while participating on Dancing with the Stars.
Musical numbers on these discs include the songs of the 70s - Jive Talkin', Everybody Dance, and more, plus the country/rock and roll segments combining the talents of the two teens. While these aren't the very best episodes of the show, they are a blast from the past and something Osmond fans will enjoy reliving.
Bonus features include photo galleries of the shows. It's interesting to see the difference in the clothing styles of the day and also Marie's hairstyle change as the years progressed.
